Unspoiled nature, ancient tradition and art define Irpinia, the historical-geographical district in southern Italy. Federico Quaranta will take the audience to this magical land, on Rai1 on Saturday April 29th at 11:25 am, and on Rai2 on Sunday April 30th at 2:00 pm. The journey will proceed from the Partenio Mounts and the Montevergine Abbey founded by San Guglielmo da Vercelli protector of Irpinia, to the magnificent monastic complex of Goleto Abbey part of the Sant’Angelo dei Lombardi territory. Naturalist expert Mia Canestrini will feature the WWF Oasis of Lake Mefite and Lake Conza where wolves populate the areas. Music and poetry are part of the journey, the program recounts the genesis of the madrigal originated in the Calore Valley by Earl Carlo Gesualdo, Prince of Musicians, to borough of Conza, where the 1980 post-earthquake restoration discovered Roman archaeological artifacts.
