Matilde Gioli is Fernanda Wittgens in the Rai1 TV film

The courageous and determined director of the Pinacoteca di Brera art gallery in Milan, during the Second World War she kept the masterpieces of Milan’s most important collections safe from looters and bombs and did all she could to save many Jewish victims of racial persecution.
