Pera Toons receives the Pulcinella Digital Award, while the online gaming platform Roblox is awarded the Pulcinella Immersive Award. These join the already announced Career Awards for director Kirk Wise and video game author Don Daglow. To celebrate its 30th edition, Cartoons on the Bay, an International Animation and Transmedia Festival promoted by Rai and organized by Rai Com under the direction of Adriano Monti Buzzetti, strengthens its collaboration with Lucca Comics. The Aurum will host an exhibition dedicated to J.R.R. Tolkien, featuring works by Angelo Montanini. Leading names from the world of drawing and animation will attend the festival, including Magic illustrators Domenico Cava and Katerina Ladon, comic artist and writer Barbara Baraldi, and writer and screenwriter Pierdomenico Baccalario. Director Alessandro Rak will receive the Sergio Bonelli Award, created in collaboration with Sergio Bonelli Editore, now in its fifth edition. Cartoons on the Bay will also spotlight Corto Maltese, the legendary sailor-adventurer created by Hugo Pratt, in an exhibition curated by Patrizia Zanotti and Marco Steiner. Pescara will play an increasingly central role in the festival with the Games Village, set up this year in Piazza Salotto, where visitors of all ages can enjoy games and activities from 10 a.m. to midnight and meet special guests from the world of animation. Cartoons on the Bay, organized in collaboration with the Abruzzo Region and the Municipality of Pescara, will take place in Pescara from May 27 to 30.
