The beauty of Calabria was the unifying thread that connected numerous Rai entertainment, information, and territorial promotion broadcasts. In the central week of July, these programs showcased the region through its landscapes, its millennia-old culture, its food and wine excellences, and the strength of its communities. This complete immersion in history, territorial marketing, and biodiversity was made possible thanks to the collaboration between Rai Com, the Calabria Region – Department of Tourism, and the Calabria Film Commission foundation.
The narrative began with “Linea Verde Sentieri” on Saturday, July 12, on Rai 1, offering an emotional journey along the Parks Cycle Path, in the wild and green heart of Calabria. Lino Zani and Giulia Capocchi explored enchanting villages like Morano Calabro and spectacular landscapes, from the Pollino Park to the CAI’s Sentiero Italia, now called Sentiero Calabria, all the way to San Donato di Ninea.
From July 16 to 18, coinciding with “Vinitaly and the City – Calabria in Wine,” Calabria was also the focus of “Camper” episodes on Rai’s flagship channel, hosted by Peppone Calabrese. The program’s reporters took the audience on a discovery of the flavors of Sibari, the historic landscapes of Oriolo, Mormanno, and Corigliano-Rossano, sacred places like the sanctuary of Serra San Bruno, and even the wonders of the Biodiversity Park of Catanzaro and the coasts between Capo Colonna, Le Castella, and Roccella Jonica.
The celebration of the Calabrian territory continued on Radio 2, with a three-day live event from Sibari, also for “Vinitaly and the City – Calabria in Wine.” Music and food and wine storytelling intertwined with entertainment and DJ sets, featuring Martina Martorana, Federico Bernocchi, Giorgio Verdelli, Gianfranco Valenti, Ema Stokholma, and Sarafine.
