Calabria is gearing up for an encore with Rai 1’s New Year’s Eve, and this year the spectacular waterfront of Reggio Calabria will serve as its backdrop. From the picturesque Piazza Indipendenza, Marco Liorni, a familiar face to Rai 1 viewers, will lead the festivities, joined by an array of talented artists.
Music, comedy, and entertainment will take center stage in the now traditional Rai 1 event, produced by Rai’s Prime Time Entertainment Directorate in collaboration with the Regione Calabria and the Fondazione Calabria Film Commission, thanks to the agreement signed with Rai Com and the cooperation of the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria.
Reggio Calabria, a land of extraordinary beauty known for its iconic Bronzes and breathtaking coastal vistas, will invite audiences to welcome the New Year with joy and excitement. Starting at 9 p.m., immediately after the President of the Republic’s year-end address, the city will host over four hours of entertainment featuring star-studded performances, surprises, and captivating music.
This year’s edition of L’Anno che Verrà will once again be available via live streaming on RaiPlay and broadcast live on Rai Radio1. The radio special, hosted by Marcella Sullo, Duccio Pasqua, and John Vignola, will provide on-site coverage, including backstage interviews with the evening’s guests.
Adding to the excitement, Linda Pani and Greta Zuccarello, the talented and charismatic Professors from L’Eredità, will join forces with the ever-original Gabriele Vagnato—fresh off his success with Viva Rai2! and a proud Calabrian—to guide viewers through Calabria’s most breathtaking locations, showcasing its verdant landscapes and azure seas.
The evening’s highlight will be an extraordinary lineup of performers assembled to create an unforgettable celebration. Featured artists include Ricchi e Poveri, Anna Oxa, Diodato, Arisa, J-Ax, Patty Pravo, Cristiano Malgioglio, Big Mama, Sal Da Vinci, Nino Frassica, Rettore, Clementino, Romina Power, Ermal Meta, Alex Britti, Leo Gassman, Sandy Marton, Los Locos, Alma Manera, Agostino Penna, and many more.
These performers will be accompanied by a live big band under the direction of Maestro Stefano Palatresi, delivering timeless hits from the past and present. The festivities will also feature an energetic corps de ballet, adding vibrancy and emotion to the evening.
The event’s scenography is crafted by Marco Calzavara, with direction by Stefano Mignucci, ensuring an evocative and visually stunning experience.
In the enchanting “timeless time” of New Year’s Eve, L’Anno Che Verrà aspires to be a celebration that bridges generations, bringing people together through the shared joy of music and cherished memories.
