ADE 2024: Balancing Technology and Creativity at the Apulia Digital Experience in Bari

Can artificial intelligence replace creativity? Is it possible for technology and human intelligence to coexist harmoniously? These questions are at the forefront of the second day of the 2024 Apulia Digital Experience (ADE), currently taking place at the Apulia Film House in Bari and running through Sunday, October 27. The event, opened by Anna Maria Tosto, President of Apulia Film Commission, and Roberto Genovesi, ADE’s Artistic Director, dives into pressing topics in the intersection of audiovisual production and future-forward technology.

Today’s lineup features panels on European funding options for innovation in the creative sector, the ongoing transformation of traditional cinema spaces to integrate virtual experiences, and the implications of the European AI Act for cinema and audiovisual production. Highlights include the unveiling of “Re-Imagine Cabiria,” a Rai Cinema project that reimagines the 1914 silent epic Cabiria as an immersive, cross-platform experience, as well as the awarding of the Digital Licensing Excellence Awards, a global honor recognizing standout digital licensing projects.

Prominent guests include Diego Grammatico (Games London), Gennaro Coppola (CEO of One More Pictures and VP of ANICA’s Unione Editori e Creators Digitali), Marco Lanzarone (Rai’s Director of Digital Radio and Podcast), Derrick De Kerckhove (sociologist), and Steve Manners (Licensing International UK).

Apulia Digital Experience is sponsored by Rai, organized by Rai Com and Apulia Film Commission, and funded by the Puglia Region under the “Promuovere il Cinema 2024” initiative, utilizing resources from the POC Puglia 2014-2020, Action 6.7.
